Lyrics adapted by Catherine Scholz: Well I’ve heard that there’s a secret chord that David played and it pleased the Lord but you don’t really care for music, do ya? And it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, baffled queen composing Hallelujah… Hallelujah, Hallelujah… Well your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw her bathing on the roof. Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya… And she tied you to her kitchen chair, broke your throne, cut your hair, from your lips she drew the Hallelujah… Hallelujah… Hallelujah, Hallelujah… Well baby I’ve been here before, I’ve seen these rooms and I’ve walked these floors… I used to live alone before I knew ya and I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch and love is not a victory march, it’s a cold and broken Hallelujah… Hallelujah, Hallelujah…Hallelujah… Hallelujah Well there was a time when you let me know what’s really going on below but now you never show that to me do ya? Well remember when I moved in you and the holy dove was moving too, every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah… Hallelujah, Hallelujah… Well maybe there’s a god above but all I’ve ever known of love is how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya, and it’s not a cry that you hear at night, it’s not somebody who has seen the light, it’s a cold and broken Hallelujah… Hallelujah, Hallelujah… Hallelujah… Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Many thanks to my listeners for supporting me all these years and to my production team Oz, Michael and Francisco for bringing their best work to this project!
What a beautiful night among friends at the South Yuba River on last Saturday, 7.11.09. On a granite slab jutting out over the water, Michael and I mused for the river folks through the Ginger Ninja’s pedal-powered sound system. The acts that followed us included Ruby Turple with Cedar • Bear Dyken with Summer Moon • The Ginger Ninjas • Obo Martin • SHAKE YOUR PEACE! and Fossil Fool. Definitely a night to remember. Thanks, Kipchoge, for inviting us to shrimp with you at the river!
