Lyrics to The Rainbow Connection

Original music and lyrics written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher

Adapted and arranged by Catherine Scholz, copyright 2024

Adapted lyrics:

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions and only illusions
and rainbows have nothing to hide

What’s so amazing that keeps us star gazing?
What do we think we might see?
Someday we’ll find it
the rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Someday thought of that
and someone believed it
look what’s it’s done so far

And so we’ve been told and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong wait and see
Someday we’ll find it
the rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me

All of us under its spell
we know that it’s probably magic

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name

Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice be one and the same
And I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it
it’s something that I’m supposed to be

Someday we’ll find it
the rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me

La de da de de da do
La da de de da do…

Review of “My Heaven” –

Hi again and thanks for submitting! “My Heaven” sounds like a heartfelt folk song that seems to delve into themes of longing, fulfillment, and the pursuit of inner peace. With only a guitar as accompaniment, the raw and unedited vocals add a sense of authenticity and vulnerability to the emotional journey portrayed in the lyrics. Opening with contemplation on the nature of heaven, questioning the dichotomy between blessings and curses, the protagonist yearns for a heaven defined by simple pleasures and the warmth of a lover’s embrace, contrasting the idealized image with the complexities of reality. Throughout the chorus, the protagonist reflects on their personal vision of heaven, characterized by an abundance of love and laughter. This sentiment is further emphasized through the imagery of falling for the moon on a cloudless night, highlighting the beauty found in moments of vulnerability and connection. As we progress in the song, the lyrics explore the elusive nature of peace and fulfillment, acknowledging the presence of unresolved dreams and unfulfilled desires. Despite feeling bound by metaphorical chains, the protagonist grapples with the notion that liberation is within reach, if only they had the courage to seize it. In the final chorus, the repetition of the phrase “My heaven” serves as a poignant reminder of the protagonist’s unwavering pursuit of happiness and contentment. Loved the soulful goodness! I will share it on my socials and playlist ASAP!

The Familiar Road coming soon and other news

My next release hails from my roots in southeastern Wisconsin. ‘The Familiar Road” was recorded in 1998 in New Berlin, Wisconsin by my friend and guitarist Sean Gill. The vocals are raw and unedited, capturing the emotional nuances of my life experiences from ages 18-24 before I moved to NorCal to take a job as a music therapist. Stay tuned for this 7-song EP due to drop at the end of this month. The lyrics all of my songs are all posted here on my website. The 7 songs on this album evoke tones of anger, confusion, passion, and depth regarding love sought and lost, existential questions and the ponderings of the meaning of my young adult life. Estimated release date: April 12, 2024. Please follow me on Spotify or whatever platform you listen to music on to be notified of the drop and give it a listen. The vocals are raw, unedited and confessional. Sean did a great job recording and adding guitar and bass. Enjoy!

Review of “Right Here Now:”

“Right Here Now” blends elements of folk, reggae, and soft rock to create a laid-back and uplifting track with a classic 90s vibe. The fun song is intended to brighten the listeners’ day, bringing a smile to their faces, while also casually dancing away to the themes of self-awareness and compassion. With appealing female vocals leading the way, the song delivers a dynamic and harmonious sound that captures the essence of the 90s music era. Lyrics to Fireban

A night without a fire

but the stars are out to inspire me

to write a little melody

of a song I found

inside of me…

(instrumental)

The cool breeze blows through my hair

and all my friends are here

We have no need for a fire

the music takes us higher…

(instrumental)

A night without a fire

but the stars are out to inspire me

to write a little melody

of a song I found

inside of me… yeah…

(instrumental)

I can feel the warmth all around me

and it’s a feeling I would like to keep

This kind of tranquility

can’t be found in the city…

(instrumental)

A night without a fire

but the stars are out for me

ooo… ooo…

(instrumental)

The spirits we pass around

well they’re not the best

I’ve ever found

but the music and our friendship

they will never ever

never ever never ever…

end…

(instrumental)

A night without a fire

but the stars are out…

(instrumental)

Lyrics to My Heaven

What kind of heaven are you waiting for

the curse that begets the blessing?

Sunshine and everything I’m asking for

are the rapture of a lover’s caressing

Chorus:

My heaven is knowing just a little too much

of loving and laughing outloud

My heaven is falling just a little too hard for the moon

on a night without cloud

Instrumental

What kind of peace are you waiting for?

the dream that was never fulfilled?

I am blinded and branded by unlocked chains

that would open if I had the will

Chorus

Instrumental

What kind of heaven are you waiting for

the curse that begets the blessing?

Sunshine and everything I’m asking for

are the rapture of a lover’s caressing

Chorus

My heaven…. hmmmmm….

Lyrics to Really Something

Now that I have found her

I am even stronger

I’m no longer bound to run away

I can really love her

I can really know her

She is really something when she peels the past away

Chorus:

When she peels the past away

When she breathes upon the page

She is really something

She is really something

Really something to behold

Oh….

Instrumental

Now that I know her

my younger sister

she’s the bright sky

all her colors in display

she easily forgave me

whenever I hurt her

she still amazes me as she finds her own way

And she peels the past away

when she listens to what her voice has to say

and she is really something

really something

really something to behold

oh yeah… hoo, oh….

instrumental

Now that I’ve found her

my mother

there’s no other in all the world

her strength has always

been my inspiration

and through her impefection

she’s a Goddess in my world

and she peels the past away

as she follows her hearts way

she is really something

she is really something

she is really something

to behold

and I never thought I’d have so

much to be thankful for

This is really something

really something

really something

to behold

yeah, yeah…

instrumental

Now that I’ve found her

I don’t want to lost her

She is the center

she is the way

as I look into the future

I see only sunshine

even when outside

it’s cold and grey

and I’ll peel the past away

when I bleed upon the page

I am really something

really something

really something

to behold

yeah, yeah…

I am really something to behold.

instrumental

Lyrics to One Good Reason

Gimme one good reason to love you

Gimme one good reason

Gimme one good reason to love you

Gimme one good reason…

I’ll make you a deal

show me you’re real

if you’ve got something to hide

get off this ride

Chorus

Ideas are ok

but show me your way

give it to me straight

it’s lies I hate

Chorus

Bridge: I noticed something about you

few people see

Where did you come from baby

do you need me

When I’m near you there’s something kind of electricity

is there more where that came from

please give it to me yeah and

Chorus

Come on make your choice

Use that golden voice

gimme what you’ve got

I am take it and I may not

Chorus

Bridge

Give me one good reason to love you

just one

Gimme one good reason
