New Music Videos from The Phoenix and Production Updates

The studio session at Ancient Wave went so smoothly, which is not surprising given the level of skill and talent I had the privilege of working with! Here are some new live performances from The Phoenix Taphouse open mike on May 25, 2023. Hope to see you at my upcoming show there on June 24th! RSVP to LMK. Included in this playlist: Cactus Flower, Nothing’s Wrong and Movin On. Next step in the production process for “Let This Be Enough” will be adding in bass, dobro and piano/keys and locking in my vocals. The mix already sounds super pro, almost radio-ready. Check out the photos taken by John Taber.

Live performance at The Phoenix TapHouse June 24th Grass Valley

On Saturday June 24th from 6-8pm I will be doing a live set at the new Phoenix TapHouse in Grass Valley, CA. The Phoenix is a new hotspot, serving fresh local beers on tap as well as southern-syle meals. Try their chili!

I played a few songs at their open mike night recently and enjoyed meeting new people and hearing some fresh tunes. They have been working hard at generating buzz about their offerings. Invite your friends and RSVP on Facebook here:

New song: “Let This Be Enough” in the studio June 19th

I’m excited to announce that I’m going to be working with Oz Fritz and a bunch of other amazing artists to produce my song, “Let This Be Enough.” This song has a relaxed southern feel, much like “Let It Be Me” by Ray LaMontagne, one of my musical influences.

Joining me in the studio will be violinist Mei Lin Heirendt (Broken Compass) and percussionist Mark McCartney on kit/brushes. Pete Grant will be tracking pedal steel/dobro, Jared May will be tracking bass and Tommy Coster will be tracking piano.

Ancient Wave Studios in Nevada City, CA will be hosting us and providing me with the rental of their Martin D35 guitar that belonged to the legendary Saul Rayo.

If you would like to donate to this production (please do), you can send funds via Venmo or PayPal

About this song:

“Let This Be Enough” is a heart-felt call from anyone who has given their everything to someone or something and it wasn’t enough for the receiver.

It could be the voice of the Earth itself, an unrequited love, a deep yearning for reciprocation.

It could be the voice of anyone who has gotten rejected over text messaging or on Discord.

This song could be sung by any single mother or father who goes to sleep exhausted at the end of a day when they aren’t sure where tomorrow’s groceries are coming from.

For anyone who has ever been without a home and felt like their basic right to exist has been violated over and over again.

For people who have been excluded from the economy because what they offer cannot be commodified.

For anyone who longs to love another deeply through all the ups and downs of this life.

For those who have been lied to, cheated on and otherwise left alone without any understanding of why they were left.

And lastly for those who have been sexually abused and question their right to experience bodily pleasure ever again.

This song is for you.

Lyrics to Garden Gate

Two, three four… I’m gonna walk right through that open door and find some peace of mind…

Six, seven, eight… I’m gonna open up that garden gate and sow some seeds inside…

Ooooo, do do do do, some peace of mind.

Ooooo, do do do do, some seeds inside.

Candlelight Vigil: After Pulse, Orlando FL

Please join me tomorrow night in downtown Nevada City to share in community healing with:

  • Silent moments for collective remembrance
  • The lighting of candles to honor the dead, the wounded, their families, and all marginalized communities dealing with both the abject grief and horror of this tragedy and the political backlash associated with it
  • The creation of a central memorial altar to place candles, flowers, rainbow paraphernalia, and other symbolic objects as a focus for our love and compassion in this hard time
  • Speakers from the general local community, the faith community, and the youth community
  • Live music and possibly other performances

I will be performing 3 of my original songs, “Butterfly,” “Last Long Blue Day,” and if there’s time, “Garden Gate.”
